Elderly KC woman injured in Lathrop wreck

LATHROP, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says an elderly Kansas City woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle wreck over the weekend.

The Patrol says 70-year-old Linda Fitzpatrick, of Kansas City, was driving a 2011 Ford Taurus on MO 116, east of I-35, at 3 p.m. last Friday.

Authorities say Fitzpatrick failed to yield while turning into a parking lot and struck the front of an oncoming semi-truck.

The collision seriously injured 92-year-old Ruby Hatfield, of Kansas City, who was a passenger in the Ford. She was transported to North Kansas City Hospital, while Fitzpatrick suffered no injuries. Everyone was wearing a seatbelt.
